Default buying a microscope...

hi there,

ok firstly i know im being lazy, but ive been all over the net (and im challened when it comes to the internet) and am still none the wiser...

a little background - im going to study medicine post grad after a life sciences/molecular cell biology degree, and am familiar with microscopes to a certain extent - except the brands, etc. im hoping to specialise in clinical pathology and want to carry on study m.c.b too as its a passion so want a decent scope to last me the years, and perhaps brainwa... er... educate the kids

problem is everywhere i go theres the typical marketing speil this one that one is best, fancy titles like 'perfect for clinical use' and so forth, so ive no idea if im getting a bargain, or a rip-off.

what im after is a binocular compound scope, decent eyepieces with as much mag as i can get without risking image quality for all the little cells and bugs i look at. not totally sure on a budget just yet as im studying again so pretty poor - say £500 (about $800 so the net tells me) up to maybe £1000 ($1600ish). might be able to push it up a little if i have to though it might cut into my book budget

so... what would you guys go for if you were in my shoes?

thanks in advance,

joel

This binocular compound microscope contains a zoom adjustment. Remove your glasses sooner than doing the system like on the way to regulate these lenses, first, cover up the adjustable lens in order that you cannot observe the image all the way through it.

I know this is more than a little late, but perhaps it will assist others too.
Go to the college or university nearby and talk about this with a professor. They love to do outreach these days. Tell them what you have told us but because s/he will be intimately more familiar with your subject area, the advise will be worth many golden nuggets.
