Default B&L condenser stop

Is there an adjustable condenser stop on the B&L DynaZoom? If so, where is it located? I'm trying to avoid cracking my slides and scratching the condenser lens. ;~)
Thanks,
Y

Hi,

There is a spring loaded stop pin on the top side of the condenser mount. Loosen the set screw and if the grease is not dried out the pin will pop up. You can position the condenser carrier so that the top lens surface of the condenser is 1mm below the bottom of the slide and tighten the set screw.

G2B2,
I'm searching for that pin. Possibly mine lacks it.
Thanks again,
Y

It's pretty obvious. I don't know if all models had the pin but I would guess they did. This was the clinical microscope of the age for B&L. Maybe you can post a few photos of the scope. g2b2

The photo's fine. The stop pin is the copper/brass colored peg coming out the top of the condenser mount just to the right of the steel mounting block and above the condenser focusing knob (as shown in the photo). The allen set screw is in the side of the condenser mount and appears to be at the front and below the peg. If you loosen the allen screw be sure that the peg cannot pop out.

g2b2,
"Eureka, I have found it!" Thanks much; will try to avoid flying parts.

PS: Wow, the flash really highlights the fact that my cleaning job is not yet complete...

PPS: Next step, locating a light power supply.

g2b2,
I managed the adjustment without losing anything. ;~) I may glue a pad of plastic under the stage to provide a spot for the stop pin to bump against. Re 1mm, is it usual practice to place immersion oil between the condenser lens and the slide? I'd thought until recently that the oil went only between the objective and the coverslip.

Y,

The hobbyists sometimes put the oil between the condenser and the slide, I have never seen a professional do it. g2b2
