I just obtained a very nice vintage American Optical / Spencer microscope. I am using thin slides which are a problem in that the elevating stage which focuses the scope does not bring the specimen close enough to the objective to be in focus. If I put another thin slide underneath the specimen slide it will work.
I am looking to see if there is some sort of adjustment to the travel on the focusing rack and gear assembly. Anyone know about this? TIA |

TIA,
There is an adjustment screw on the dovetail of the stage block. To adjust the screw you can remove the cover plate (has 2 screws and a small hole in it) from the stage block. That will allow access to the screw. Use a 1/16 allen wrench to lower the screw until it is flush with the dovetail. This will allow you to raise the stage higher and make it possible to focus on the thinner slides.
