Hi newtoscopes,

What do you need to know?

Peter.

What kind of microscope that is in the picture at the top and any information about it would be greatly appreciated. It was given to me as a gift and i feel it is rare.

I'll take a stab at it, though I haven't a clue about the manufacturer. What you have appears to be a "stereo" or "dissecting" microscope. It is a relatively low power microscope, and it should be great for examining whole insect specimens, for example. You could also examine specimens mounted on slides, but not in great detail.

Hi newtoscopes,
I agree with John, this appears to be a stereo microscope. The model you have is probably rare as it looks to be designed for mounted specimens, particularly transparent ones. It would not be particularly good as a dissecting microscope as the stage is somewhat above the table. As it has no makers marking or even country of origin I would suggest it may well be a cheep import, probably from the far east, this dos not mean one should despise it in any way the value of a microscope is the interest and enjoyment had in the use of the instrument.

What do you study with your microscope?

Peter.
