Hello,
My name is Kimberly. I've enjoyed photography for many years and after taking a microbiology class became fascinated with microphography. I just recently bought an I-4 Infinity microscope with the minivid camera. At some point I would like to attach a digital handheld camera but because of the expense of the adaptors I wanted to do more research before purchasing. I've checked out some of the threads in the forum and am excited about the exchange of ideas, information and photos here. I'm just a beginner and will appreciate any advice and comments you have. Here is a photo I took last night from a water sample from Muskegon Lake in Michigan. Be safe and enjoy your day! Kimberly |

Hi Kimberly,
Is that a bunch of desmids in your photo? Great picture. Don't be put off by the cost of an adaptor for your digital camera. Mine cost me a few cents: it consists of a PVC connector and rubber sleeve It doesn't give spectacular results, but it will with a little tweaking. You'll also find that a perfectly fine darkfield stop filter can be had for nothing at all and in seconds (some ideas for that on this forum). Have fun! Adam O. |

Adam,
Thanks for your encouraging reply. I believe the photo is of theGreen Algae Pediastrum. I hadn't heard of desmids before your post so looking up that definition led me to quite a lot of nice photos of desmids with I've learned are found mostly in freshwater. I am from MI and my son will be heading up there in Nov. and will bring me some more water samples from Lake Michigan and some of the inland lakes. I saw the darkfield suggestions and am going to experiment with some of those as soon as my chem class finishes in a few weeks. I'll definately try the adaptor ideas too. I want to use what I have before spending more money ![]() I've posted some images in the Gallery and will post more soon. I appreciate all comments and suggestions. This site has been amazingly helpful in the short time I've been using it. Kimberly |

There is a handy gadget called an Orion Steadipix. All it does is hold your camera steady against the eye piece. It is primarily intended for afocal astrophotography, and I've had good results using it with a telescope. Perhaps it could also work with a microscope?
