Question Nikon Labophot-2 Rear Lamp Cover

Hi All:

New to the group - just found it thru a search.

I'm looking for original or replacement lamp housing covers for the rear / main lamp of a Nikon Labophot-2 microscope. Does anyone know if these can be obtained anywhere? I sent an email to Nikon, but haven't heard yet (although they were very helpful in sending a scanned PDF manual - which isn't available on their website.) Seems that the heat from the lamp and the type of plastic used for the cover were 'incompatible'. After some period of use, the pastic would become uber-fragile and fall apart. Thanks for any help!

Peace & blessings,
Donn / donnw

Hi Donn,

I did a little looking but I'm afraid you are going to have to get creative and build your own lamp cover. Unless you stumble across one on an auction site they are no longer available.

I don't know if you will find the spare part you want. Since you have the broken piece, could you glue it in place (e.g. using epoxy cement)?

glueing plastic is not easy, specially if you are a perfectionist. I would have it unvisible and long lasting in quality!

Best regards

Possibly taped from the inside, and/or glued with "plastic welder" cyanoacrylate glue.
