The amoeba is remarkable for its very large genome. While in cyst form the amoeba will not replicate and may die if unable to emerge for a lengthy period of time.

Hi g2b2,
Your amoeba apears to be "Amoeba dubia" , if these were cultered from the one sorce then they are almost certainly clones. I have been told but have never verified that amoeba have never been observed to conjugate, which could mean they never have genders. Peter. |
