The weakest parts of this mircoscope are in the light control. It is a fixed intensity with limited control. There is a fixed NA condenser and a disk diaphragm with five apertures. If you are at all serious about this hobby you will out grow this microscope very quickly. The lenses are also of the simplest correction and combined with the quality of the glass performance will be limited. Is it suitable for a high school application ? Yes. Does it allow for expansion ? No. It all really depends upon where you plan to go with the hobby. g2b2
